WEDNESDAY’S FORECAST | Honestly, this could be our hottest 2 day stretch of 2026 and it’s only Mid-May! 100F for some again today. 60F by Friday. It’s like fire and ice!
Memorial Day weekend? 1 washout but it’s pretty dry otherwise.

The peak of the heat will be Tuesday! Record heat is possible for ACY Airport (96F) and Freehold (94F), among other places.
A *big* ol’ sea breeze will kick in at the beaches. This is where you’ll want to go! Highs will be in the 70s there today. You’re safe from the heat here.
Avoid the ocean! It’s cold (mid-50s, I ain’t going in that) and there are no lifeguards yet.
A NOAA heat advisory is in effect for the orange areas today. Cape May-Atlantic-Cumberland-Salem are *not* in it. It’s not because it’s cooler there, but because they have a higher threshold to hit the heat advisory.
The heat risk will be MAJOR issue for inland Monmouth-Ocean counties. The NOAA Heat Risk takes into account heat, humidity and time of year. We’re just not used to mid-90s in Mid-May, even without the humidity.
Stay in the air conditioning, drink lots of water and avoid exercise outside from 10AM-4PM if you’re away from the beaches.

SATURDAY’S FORECAST | It’s the weekend we’ve all been waiting for. Sunshine, blue sky, comfortable temperatures and low humidity! The only thing stopping me from calling this the best weather weekend of 2026 is the low risk of a shower (which we could use). Let’s talk.
FRIDAY’S FORECAST | A pesky, swirling low pressure system is the only thing between NJ and a long stretch of warm weather! I’ll tell you when the low moves out and the 70s, 80s and even a few 90s work in. Plus, I have my 3 scenarios for MDW!
A “severe” drought (level 2/4) drought now engulfs 50% of New Jersey, including most of the Jersey Shore, according to the United States Drought Monitor on May 14. That’s 30% increase from last week.
The NJ Department of Environmental Protection put the state in a drought warning in November. However, if widespread, soaking rain does not come in the next month, mandatory water restrictions would be possible. That comment comes from State Climatologist Dr. Dave Robinson from our Monthly Weather Roundup show on May 5.
THURSDAY’S FORECAST | Today’s the last day of widespread 60s until…. Well, I’m not sure when. We have a lot of warm weather on the way as we inch closer to Memorial Day weekend! Let’s talk.

The Cape May Lutheran Church has invited Joe Martucci to speak at their Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, May 20th. Now, this year, they added a Zoom option for everyone up and down the Jersey Shore. It’s free!
The event starts at 12PM. Joe will speak about changes in tidal flooding over the decades, as well as give an outlook on the 2026 hurricane season. NJ has a 19% chance of being within 50 miles of a tropical storm or hurricane, lower than average.
