    Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, learn to drone! You’ll learn how a drone operates and get the chance to feel like a drone pilot in this course! The course will begin with a brief history of drones. Then, we’ll get into the weather conditions needed to fly the drone safely and legally and talk about how to operate a drone controller. The second part of the course will have you feeling like a pilot! Strap on a headset and see what the drone sees as it flies in the sky. Or, take a turn with the drone controller for some basic movements!

    ($8 for Girl Scouts, $16 for non-Girl Scouts. You must be in 6th12th grades.)

    Drone fun patch included in youth fee. This CSA-level program is also open to 5th grade Juniors bridging to Cadettes in September 2026.This program is intended for girl participants only. Attendance requires an adult chaperone for each group or individual, who must register to meet required girl‑to‑adult supervision ratios in alignment with Safety Activity Checkpoints. Adult registration is complimentary, and all attending adults must adhere to GSJS policies and procedures.

    My thoughts on the FCC banning future DJI, Chinese drones in America

    The United States government, through the FCC, has stopped most new drones made in other countries from being sold here. This happened on December 22, 2025, because of fears these drones could harm national security. The biggest company affected is DJI from China, which makes most over 70% of drones in America.

    People can still use and buy older models that were already okayed. American drones are available but usually cost more.
